1. Introduction

Welcome to SmartClean -- File Cleaner ("SmartClean" or "the app"). This Privacy Policy explains what information SmartClean may access, process, and protect when providing file management, storage analysis, media scanning, document management, app usage, network status, network speed test, notification, and cleanup features.

SmartClean is designed to help users understand device storage usage, find files that may be cleaned, and manage selected files through clear user confirmation.

2. Core Features

SmartClean may provide the following features:
- Analyze device storage usage.
- Browse and manage images, videos, audio files, and documents.
- Find large files, duplicate files, similar photos, and downloaded files.
- Review photo metadata that may contain privacy-sensitive information.
- Show app usage and per-app network usage after the user enables Usage Access.
- Manage and delete selected files only after the user actively chooses the action.

The shipped app includes Reach, Google Mobile Ads, Pangle, Adjust, Firebase and Aliyun components for advertising, attribution, analytics, configuration and supporting services. Firebase Cloud Messaging libraries remain in the package, but remote notification receiving components are disabled in this version. Cleaning reminders are generated locally from real device observations.

3. File and Media Access

To provide scanning, categorization, review, and management features, SmartClean may need access to files or media on the device, including file names, file types, file sizes, system file identifiers, folder or album names, video duration, and creation or modification time.

Similar Photos may locally decode small image thumbnails and generate visual signatures to compare visual similarity. Images, thumbnails, and visual signatures are not uploaded to SmartClean-owned servers.

File scanning, categorization, and storage analysis are primarily completed locally on the user's device. SmartClean does not upload personal photos, videos, audio files, documents, or other user files to SmartClean-owned servers.

4. Usage Access

After the user enables Usage Access in Android settings, SmartClean may locally read launchable app names, package names, app icons, app storage usage, recent use time, per-app network usage, requested permission counts, and granted permission counts.

These locally read usage statistics support App Usage, App Storage, Network Usage and permission summaries. Accurate mobile-only totals can also support an optional local reminder; incomplete or unavailable history does not generate a data reminder. SmartClean does not read app content, messages, accounts, passwords, or private files inside other apps.

5. Network Scan and Speed Test

Network Scan may locally read Android-provided network type, IP address, DNS address, VPN status, and validated-network status. It may connect to 1.1.1.1:443, 1.0.0.1:443, or 8.8.8.8:443 to check connection latency.

Network Speed connects to third-party HTTPS speed-test endpoints and generates test traffic to measure download speed, upload speed, and ping. Current download tests may use Cloudflare speed-test endpoints such as https://speed.cloudflare.com/__down?bytes=1048576, https://speed.cloudflare.com/__down?bytes=524288, and https://speed.cloudflare.com/__down?bytes=262144. Upload tests may use https://speed.cloudflare.com/__up. TCP timing may use 1.1.1.1:443, 1.0.0.1:443, or 8.8.8.8:443.

These third-party endpoints may receive standard network request information, such as IP address, request time, user agent, and connection metadata. SmartClean does not upload user files during network checks. Upload speed tests use generated test traffic.

6. Android Permissions

Depending on the feature and Android version, SmartClean may request media access, All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE), notification permission, network access and Usage Access. All files access supports core file management across shared storage, including large files, duplicates, documents, APKs and downloads; it does not give access to other apps' private internal storage. You can revoke All files access under Android Settings > Special app access > All files access. Without it, scans are limited to the media and folders Android authorizes. On Android 14 and later, selected-photo access limits media access unless a separately granted All files permission provides broader shared-storage access.

When broader shared-storage access is unavailable, Storage Access Framework lets you choose folders for Documents, APKs or Downloaded Files. SmartClean lists authorized files, checks provider deletion support and deletes only selected items after confirmation.

7. Deletion and Cleanup

SmartClean does not silently delete files. Cleanup actions require the user to select items and confirm the cleanup flow. For media cleanup, Android may show a system confirmation dialog. For Documents, APKs, and Downloaded Files, deletion depends on the user-authorized folder and content-provider support. SmartClean shows the actual cleaned and failed results after the operation.

8. Data Sharing and Sale

Local file scanning does not upload your file contents. Separate third-party SDKs may process advertising or app identifiers, device and app information, IP addresses and network metadata, ad interactions, attribution events and diagnostics for their services. Providers include Reach, Google Mobile Ads/Firebase, Pangle, Adjust and Aliyun. SDK data processing is separate from local file analysis and depends on the provider, Android permissions and applicable consent choices. Turning off cleaning notifications does not disable advertising, attribution, analytics or other SDK network requests.

9. Retention and User Control

Scan facts, notification preferences, frequency limits and activity history are stored locally. The last 50 notification clicks store only notification type, source category and time; they do not include filenames, app names or file contents. Scan facts expire for notification use after 24 hours, and pending scan reminders are invalidated after process restart. Notification settings can disable reminders or categories; Android notification settings can block system delivery. These controls do not stop separate SDK data processing. Android Backup is disabled for SmartClean app data, and cleartext HTTP traffic is disabled.

Users can clear the activity list in SmartClean, revoke permissions in Android settings, delete selected files through Android confirmation flows where required, or clear app storage/uninstall to remove local app data including notification history. These actions do not themselves delete data already processed by third-party SDK providers.

10. Children

SmartClean is a general file and storage management tool and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Security

SmartClean follows Android platform permission and storage models. Access to files, media, usage information, and folders is limited by Android permissions and user choices.

12. Policy Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated when SmartClean changes features, permissions, or data processing behavior. The latest version will be provided in the app or on the app listing.
