TwinClean – Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 27, 2026
Last updated: October 27, 2026

TwinClean ("TwinClean," "we," "us," or "our") is an Android photo and video organization app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is accessed and processed when you use the app, including how our practices may change if optional advertising and connected services are introduced in a future release.

1. What TwinClean Does

TwinClean helps you identify exact duplicate photos and videos, burst photos, and similar photos. It recommends which items to keep, but you remain in control of what is selected and removed. TwinClean does not clean system caches, scan for viruses, optimize battery life, or manage all files on your device.

2. Photo, Video, and Device Data

To provide its core features, TwinClean accesses photos, videos, and related media details that Android makes available under the permissions you grant. This may include file size, dates, dimensions, file location information supplied by the device's media library, and locally computed similarity or duplicate-detection information. These details are used to group media, make keep recommendations, show scanning results, and verify requested operations.

In the initial, ad-free release, the core scanning and organization workflow is performed locally on your device. Local scan caches and records used to display relevant trash operations may be stored on your device. The initial release does not include an advertising SDK, does not request internet access, and does not request notification permission. The app's current source documentation does not establish any remote upload of your photo or video contents in that release.

Granting limited access to selected photos or videos may reduce the results TwinClean can find. TwinClean can only process media to which Android grants access.

3. Permissions

Depending on your Android version and the features available in your installed release, TwinClean may request or declare the following permissions:

Permission or accessWhy it is neededAvailability
Photos and images (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES)Find and review duplicate, burst, and similar photosSupported Android versions
Videos (READ_MEDIA_VIDEO)Identify and review exactly duplicate videosSupported Android versions
Selected photos and videos (READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED)Respect Android's selected-media access modeAndroid 14+ where applicable
Read external storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)Access available device media on older Android versionsOlder Android versions, as applicable
Write external storage (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)Support compatible media operations on older Android versionsAndroid 10 / API 29 and below, as applicable
Internet/network accessEnable connected third-party services only if a later version introduces themNot requested by the initial ad-free release
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)Deliver app notifications if this feature is included and enabledLater releases, on Android versions requiring this permission
Boot-related or foreground-service capabilitiesSupport eligible optional notification or persistent-status functionalityLater releases only, as implemented

Some removal, restoration, or permanent-deletion operations require a separate Android system confirmation. TwinClean does not require All Files Access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE), accessibility access, microphone/audio access, or permission to draw over other apps for its documented core features.

You may manage photo/video permissions or notifications in Android Settings. Revoking access can limit or disable related features.

4. How Media Is Scanned and Organized

TwinClean analyzes accessible media to identify exact duplicate photos/videos, burst photos, and similar photos. It uses local file and image characteristics to recommend an item to keep in each group. Recommendations are advisory; you can change your selection before confirming a removal.

TwinClean does not automatically remove your media without a review and confirmation step. On Android 11 and later, supported items may be moved to the Android system media trash; you can then use supported recovery or deletion options for items recorded through TwinClean. On Android 10 and earlier, removal may be permanent. An item moved to the system trash does not necessarily free physical storage immediately.

5. Advertising and Other Third-Party Services

Initial version: TwinClean does not display advertisements and does not include advertising or other network-based analytics SDKs in its ad-free build.

Possible later versions: TwinClean may introduce advertisements, diagnostics, usage analytics, attribution, remote configuration, or optional notification services. Depending on the services actually enabled, their providers may process information such as device or app identifiers, app interactions, network information (including IP address), crash or diagnostic data, and advertising-related information, subject to applicable permissions, laws, and user choices.

This section is advance notice, not a statement that those services are already active. Before releasing any version with such services, we will update this policy to identify the providers and applicable data practices, make any required disclosures and consent choices available, and complete relevant Google Play declarations. We do not state that photos or videos are shared with advertising providers; any future access to media contents beyond local organization would require a separate, accurate disclosure and appropriate legal basis.

6. Data Storage and Retention

Local scanning information and operational records may remain on your device to support subsequent scans and the app's supported trash history. You may trigger a complete rescan from settings. Removing the app may remove app-managed local records, subject to Android's data and backup behavior; media stored in your device library or Android system trash follows Android's own storage and retention rules.

If future releases enable third-party services, applicable retention periods and any user deletion options will be described in an updated policy and/or the providers' published documentation.

7. Data Sharing

In the initial ad-free release, TwinClean's documented media scanning workflow is local, with no network permission or advertising SDK. We do not claim that a future advertising-enabled version has the same network or data-sharing behavior. Details of any third-party processing in later versions will be disclosed before those services are deployed.

We may disclose information if legally required, but this statement does not imply that the initial release collects or retains remote user records.

8. Your Choices and Controls

You can choose whether to grant access to photos and videos, including limited access where Android offers it; review and modify suggested keep/remove selections; approve or decline Android system deletion requests; manage supported system-trash actions; and change available app settings. In a later release, additional notification or privacy choices may be available when those features are included.

For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us using the email listed above. We can only act on information under our control; local media and Android permissions are generally managed on your device.

9. Security

TwinClean is designed to perform its core media organization tasks on-device. We use Android's permission and confirmation mechanisms to restrict access and protect user choice. No app or storage environment can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Children's Privacy

TwinClean is a general-purpose media organization utility and is not specifically designed for children. We do not intentionally design its core features to collect children's personal information remotely. Any future connected services will be evaluated for applicable age-related privacy requirements before release.

11. International Users

Privacy obligations may differ depending on your location. Where applicable, we will provide legally required information and controls regarding third-party data processing, user rights, and cross-border transfers when those activities occur.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when features, permissions, third-party services, or legal requirements change. We will publish an updated effective date and provide additional notice when required. Please review the policy for the version of TwinClean you are using.
